Ling Ling practices 40 hours per day, so each day is 40 hours long.
The Gregorian calendar year has 365 days (more on that later) of 24 hours each.
That is 8 760 hours in a year.
There are therefore 219 Ling Ling days in a year (8 760 hours / 40 hours per day).

Leap years
Technicaly, one year is 365.2421875 days (Leap Years).
In Ling Ling days, that is 219.1453125 days. This 0.1453125 day must taken into account.
Each Ling Ling year, an offset of 0.1453125 day is added. After 7 years,
the difference is greater than 1 day. This day must be added
to that year, to synchronize the Ling Ling calendar with the astronomical year.
That still leaves a 0.017187499921 day offset every 7 years. After 8 leap years
it takes only 6 years to accumulate another day offset. This happens every 62 years
(i.e. 8 * 7 years + 6 years).
I used a simple loop to calculate the leap years from year 1, so I did not come
up with a formula to do it. Feel free to try! The complete calculations are available
in the Calculate leap years page.
Leap years for recent years are:
2017 (7 years difference).
2024 (7 years difference).
2031 (7 years difference).
2037 (6 years difference).
2044 (7 years difference).
2051 (7 years difference).
2058 (7 years difference).
Time zones
Ling Ling has no use for time zones!
Where he his is the only time zone that matters!
Therefore, the entire planet changes Ling Ling date at the same time.
